Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the 100W use a quartz lens instead of a standard lens?
At 80W and above, standard glass F-theta lenses cannot handle the thermal load from the high-power laser beam. The quartz lens has a much higher damage threshold, ensuring consistent focus quality, longer lifespan, and no thermal lensing (focus shift from heat). All Haotian machines 80W and above come standard with quartz lenses.
Can the 100W do fine detail work or is it only for heavy engraving?
Both. The M7 MOPA architecture lets you use extremely short pulses (as low as 2 nanoseconds) at low power settings to achieve the same fine, delicate surface marks as a 20W laser. Then you can instantly switch to full-power deep engraving without changing any hardware. The beam quality (M² less than 1.6) ensures precision at any power level.
What is the difference between JPT M7 and M8 at 100W?
The M8 100W is the newer generation with slightly higher efficiency and pulse energy. The M7 100W is a proven workhorse with years of industrial reliability. Both use the same MOPA technology and deliver excellent results. The M7 is a strong value choice, while the M8 is the cutting-edge option.
Do I need water cooling for 100W?
No. The JPT M7 100W is air cooled with an efficient thermal design rated for continuous operation between 0°C and 40°C. No external water chiller is needed. For shops in very hot environments running continuous heavy loads, ensure adequate room ventilation.
Can I use LightBurn with this machine?
Yes. This machine uses a JCZ control board that is fully compatible with LightBurn's galvo functionality. LightBurn works on Windows, macOS, and Linux. EZCad 2 software is also included for Windows users. You can use either software depending on your preference.
What if a part breaks after I receive the machine?
Contact our team at [email protected] or call 989-780-2331. For any non-source component (electrical boards, cables, switches, worktable, etc.), we send a free replacement and you do not need to return the broken part. For the laser source or galvo head, we arrange a return for repair or replacement through JPT and cover all shipping both ways. All covered under our 3-year warranty.
